Jason Ritchie is a family man and general contractor who built his small business helping people with physical challenges nationwide live independently in their own homes. Jason has hands on experience creating jobs and a deep understanding of the struggle too many American families face just to get by. Jason will carry middle class values and his strong work ethic to Congress. Jason is uniquely qualified to be the next member of Congress from Washington’s 8th Congressional District.
Jason’s business, Handi Habitats, grew out of a challenging time. When Jason’s father suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed, Jason left his teaching position to help remodel his father’s home to make it accessible so his father could continue to live independently. Jason soon realized his father’s needs were shared by many others. Over the years Jason has built that knowledge and experience into a business that serves others with physical challenges. Since then his business grew to help more injured workers, veterans and seniors live safely at home.
The experience of building a business that not only creates living wage American jobs but serves the public gives Jason a unique perspective which he hopes to bring to congress. When Reichert joined other extremists in shutting down the government and harming small businesses across the country - including Jason’s own – Jason felt an obligation to hold congress accountable and serve the public.
A lifelong moderate Democrat, Jason has a double major in History and Political Science from the University of Michigan and later went back to school and received a Master’s in History from Eastern Michigan University.
Jason and his wife Amy are married 16 years and live in Issaquah with their two children, Charlie and Sam, who both attend Issaquah Public Schools.
